This is just crazy with my truck

ok tell me this on my truck when the check engine light is on the truck runs perfect but when the check engine light is off the truck runs like crap it bearly moves. i dont get it. and it still back fires i dont know how to fix that. but im still driving it to sommerset whether it blows up or not.

Lol. Have you checked any of the codes that show up? What's it doing?
If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

You can take it to advance and they'll run the codes on it.

Make sure if you do, that you have them actually tell you the codes. Most of the time they will just tell you what they think it is, when in fact it's something else. I always get the code, then run it back at my house.

ok the check engine light is off now but backfire just got worse i had the cat cut off and now its just horrible. im taking it to a buddy that my aunt and uncle go to and he is going to do everything he can to fix it i have been told timing so many times but idk. o and i cant take it to sommerset but im still going im just having to take my parents dodge dakota 01

It wouldn't hurt to get the timing checked...

Its all good now the back fireing turned out to be the distributor. Got the whole thing replace and now it runs like a dream. Now its time to move on to making it faster.

When you cut the cat off, it may have triggered a check engine light as well. If so, this can be tuned out.
